Over the last five years, the RS Drive System has been in service on hundreds of yachts and has proven itself to be another highly reliable product from Octopus Autopilot Drives. Based on this experience the push-pull steering cable has also proven itself to be a rugged and robust component of the overall system. When maintained as recommended, by greasing at regular intervals, this steering cable provides a life of over 4,000 hours use (20,000 miles at 5 knots average speed for cruising yachts).
Octopus Autopilot Drives are fully confident in the reliability of the RS Drive System and are pleased to announce that we have extended the system warranty from two years to three years including the mechanical cable. We do however consider the steering cable to be a serviceable item and recommend that for long passage making and racing applications a spare cable is carried on board.
